BELLTOWN
INTERIOR
Her home had the perfect waterfront view, if only she could see it.
Originally built in 1979, Ms. Odah's galley kitchen was poorly situated and it kept her from enjoying the best part of her downtown condo – Seattle’s waterfront view. Our goal was clear from the start - to replace the galley wall with an island and take a fresh look at the Bauhaus aesthetic.
Materials
The condo's hallmark architecture is its large, bronze-anodized windows. We built on this architectural feature by commissioning custom patina steel cabinets. A solid cast sink and countertop reinforce the minimalist geometry, and Calacatta Gold elegantly blends the palette's three main colors: white, silver, and bronze.
Fabrication
Custom fabrication is everywhere in this project. The flush-inset cabinetry is designed with integrated lights and electrical outlets and require expert-level welding. The integrated concrete island and sink demand artisan-level masonry.
Drawings
Detailed drawings were necessary for the fabricators at West Coast Custom Metal Design to construct the cabinetry and concrete molds that would define the kitchen.
